Consultation has concluded

Help shape the review of our General Local Law
Our Local Law covers a range of issues, from the number of animals you can keep in residential areas, use of public streets and spaces, camping and roadside trading, to how we manage waste and open-air burning. It gives us the ability to respond to local issues, protect private and public property, and ensure the health and safety of the community.
We’re reviewing our Local Law to ensure it meets the needs of our community and addresses any issues or concerns that have arisen since it was drafted in 2014. Before we begin drafting the new Local Law, we want to get your feedback on the existing Local Law and any issues you think we need to consider during the review.
To make it as easy as possible, we’ve broken down the 2014 General Local Law into categories so you can understand what it covers and provide feedback on areas that are most important to you. Your feedback will help us to identify what needs to be changed and ensure that our new Local Law is relevant and meets community expectations.
We’re starting with your input
In 2019, the Council undertook a review of the 2014 General Local Law and developed the proposed 2019 General Local Law. However, due to a lack of community support for the proposed changes, Council cancelled the proposed local law amendment.
We are now starting the process again. Council is seeking community feedback on the current Local Law to understand if they meet the community's needs. After consultation with the community and key stakeholders, a new proposed local law will be drafted and we will consult the community again to see if we've hit the mark.
