South Gippsland Shire Council is looking to improve pedestrian and traffic management along the Princes Street, Korumburra school precinct. The project involves two rounds of consultation.
The first round of consultation (completed last year) helped to determine the current safety concerns in the precinct.
The second round of consultation (now open) presents some treatment options for consideration.
What We Heard in the First Round of Consultation We heard from 84 people about their safety concerns within the Princes Street School Precinct. Responses were extensive and diverse, including:
Significant numbers of people felt unsafe using the corridor, especially during school drop off or pick up.
Other comments included - speeding vehicles (especially at night), poor visibility at existing crossings, lack of safe parking, no crossing at Karmai.
Second Round of Consultation Please review the treatment options currently being considered and provide your feedback via the survey below:
Once additional community feedback has been obtained on the proposed treatments, a final report will be produced and presented to Council for consideration in a future capital works program.
Detailed designs and cost estimates will also be produced as part of this report.
Council will investigate a TAC Funding Application to share funding of construction.
The project has been funded via the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) Local Government Grant Program.
The survey closes Sunday 5 January 2025.
