Youth Strategy Survey

In this survey, you will be asked questions about each pillar the underpins the Youth Strategy.

To help us confirm that these pillars are still useful, Council worked closely with a representative group of school students to capture their ideas. The concepts you see here reflect those conversations.

Pillar: Environment and Sustainability

Young people told us that this pillar should remain in the new Youth Strategy to ensure we continue to care for our natural resources and environment.

Many spoke about how much they love the abundance of outdoor space we have in South Gippsland, and the peace it brings to their lives.

Below are the impacts they identified.

Let us know if you are happy or unhappy with their inclusion in our new Strategy.

1.

Pollution and Litter: Rubbish on walking tracks, parks and bike trails detract from the natural beauty of the environment and poses a threat to local wildlife.

2.

Bushfire and Weather Events: Bushfires and changing weather patterns impact the health of local ecosystems, causing damage to forests, wildlife and outdoor spaces.

3.

Human Activity: Logging, housing development and the encroachment of industrial environments can degrade natural spaces, affecting biodiversity and access.

4.

Access Issues: Some areas are difficult to reach due to distance, lack of transport or infrastructure challenges.

5.

Invasive Species: The introduction of non-native species and the clearing of land for development also impacts local biodiversity and the health of ecosystems.
