Community Engagement Policy and Strategy

We are seeking your feedback on South Gippsland Shire Council's new Draft Community Engagement Policy and Strategy.

The documents outline Council’s approach to meaningful engagement with the South Gippsland community. Both documents have been informed by feedback received during the Shaping South Gippsland engagement held in February 2025.

Together, these documents form two parts of a three-part framework designed to provide clear and practical guidance for Council and the community. The third component—an internal toolkit—will support staff to deliver high-quality, consistent engagement.

Community Engagement Policy (The ‘Why’)
Defines Council’s overarching commitment and principles for engagement, ensuring a consistent and compliant approach aligned with legislative requirements.

Community Engagement Strategy (The ‘How’)
Details how Council will implement the Policy over the next four years (2025–2029) to meet the strategic needs of the Shire. It translates the Policy’s commitments into clear priorities and actions.
