Consultation has now closed. Thank you for providing your feedback.
Council is seeking your feedback on a newly drafted General Local Law for South Gippsland.
During the first round of feedback earlier this year, 261 people provided input regarding the current Local Law through a community survey, community meetings, written submissions and seven pop-up events across the region.
Findings from the initial consultation showed that most people who responded did not have any significant concerns with the current General Local Law. To review what we heard in that first round, you can click here or download it under the 'Documents' tab.
During the drafting of the proposed new Local Law, Council has used the previous General Local Law as a base and updated it according to today's standards. This is in-line with what we've heard from our community during that first round of engagement. Additionally, Council has also sought to simplify and reduce the General Local law where possible, by removing redundant Laws that have been superseded by other state-wide legislation, for example the Environmental Protection Act.
To help make the changes clearer, an old versus new comparison document can be found on the right-hand-side of this page or by clicking here. You can also find a Draft General Local Law 2024 on the right or by clicking here. There are some Codes of Practice that are referenced in the Local Law that you may wish to review.
If you think there is something we have missed or that needs further consideration, please complete the survey below or upload a submission (also in the survey).
A document with questions asked by you can be found on the right-hand-side of this page or by clicking here and will be updated throughout the consultation period.
